WHAT'S WRONG WITH THIS DISCLAIMER ?
We'll, for the average consumer who has just begun to shop for a solar "system" on the Web, a disclaimer like this might appear perfectly normal. After all, to the average consumer, what are racks ? For the experienced consumer on the other hand, this disclaimer is the furthest thing from normal.
In reality what this disclaimer depicts is less than a "bare bones system" it's not a system at all !
There are three basic components to any complete solar "system". They are:
1. The Solar Modules.
2. The Inverter.
3. The Mounting Racks.
Remove any one of these three basic components and you don't have a system. Your installation is basically dead in the water. You can run down to your local hardware store and pickup site specific items like wire, lag bolts, AC circuit breakers etc...... but mounting racks ? That's a whole other story.
Mounting racks are specialized assemblies that are purpose built to do one thing and one thing only and that is to attach your solar modules to the roof of your home or ground mount.
So why would a dealer advertise a solar "system" without mounting racks ? Well, in what appears to be an effort to possibly confuse consumers by advertising a "lower price per watt", some dealers are conveniently leaving out these critical components and treating them instead as add-ons.
Selling a solar system without mounting racks is no different than boasting about a low price for a car but then leaving out the car's transmission and charging you extra to "add" the transmission back into the car.
It makes no sense other than to lure you deeper into a website with a low price per watt and hoping that you'll forget about the "lure" when it comes time to add in all the necessities that the dealer conveniently left out.
This practice can only make you wonder what other standard items the dealer has left out.

DON'T BE A VICTIM OF THAT OTHER DEALER'S "RACKLESS" BEHAVIOR !
HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF
Always ask your dealer to provide a written quote. Always look for the quantity, brand and model of the solar modules, mounting racks and associated hardware such as mounting clips, nut and bolts and L brackets, and of course the quantity, brand and model of the inverter that will be included in your system.
Be especially weary of dealer that use language such as "your mounting racks will cost "about" $65.00 per module" Always ask for a firm written quote. And always ask for a firm quote on the cost of shipping your system including the mounting racks before handing over your money.
